Congratulations on your engagement!
We are so excited to capture this big moment in your lives together and have included some tips on this page to help you look and feel your best! Deciding what to wear for your session can seem like a huge chore. Following these simple tips can help you chose the perfect outfits for your upcoming session with ease!
DO- Chose a color scheme based on where you’d like to hang or display these pictures. If you’re planning on putting them up in your earth-toned Living Room, wear earth tones.
DON’T- Match too much. Instead of the cliché matching jeans and white T-shirts, chose a color scheme and coordinate.
DO- Layer! The more layers the better! Sweaters, scarves, jewelry, blazers- layers create visual interest and add texture. Plus they can be changed up and modified for different shots and environments or temperature changes.
DON’T- Be afraid of patterns. Plaids, polka dots, and florals can be overwhelming when all paired together but adding a few patterns here and there can add some interest as well.
DO- Pay Attention to your shoes. Shoes matter! A pair of white tennis shoes can be a bit of an eyesore in a line of cute boots and dress shoes.
DON’T- Wear a shirt with a logo, imprinting, or wording. Try to steer clear of sports or brand logos on your shirt. We don’t want anything to take away from the most important part of the photo- you!
DO- Stay comfortable! Especially for Mom and Dad- pick items you are comfortable in and build around those. Wear something you’ll be comfortable standing, running, walking, and playing in!
DON’T- Overthink it! You want your family to look comfortable with each other and in the clothes you’re wearing! Wear what you are comfortable in! If you don’t normally dress up in fancy cocktail dresses and 5 inch heels, do not wear that!
DO- Think about picking the outfit for the hardest person to dress first. Use the colors in this ensemble to go off for others’ photos and colors.
DON’T- Don’t put you and your family in clothes that are not natural or comfortable for them. Have a little one who hates wearing jeans and never wears them? Have them wear khakis or dress pants that give a little more.
DO- Feel free to text or email us color combinations and outfits you are thinking of. We’d love to help anytime!
DON’T- Try not to pick colors similar to where we will be. If we’ll be outside in a green field or area with a lot of plants, try not to wear a lot of green. A few accents (jewelry, hairpieces, shoes, or ties) with the color of where we will be are nice but try not to exactly match the backdrop.
